The Vision for YOUTH MINISTRY at WMB 2009-2010



Communion…
Community…
Mission…



We have a deep desire to disciple, or apprentice, young people within the WMB missional culture, and in the Kitchener/Waterloo community and beyond. We want to see youth growing through their communion with God, their community here and beyond these walls, and the mission that Jesus is calling them to.

On this journey we pray that we would know and love God better, as we serve Him together, discovering and living out our faith inside and outside the walls of this building amongst the precious people in our communities.

3 main focuses of making a “kingdom apprentice”

Communion… Loving God, worshipping Him, praying, learning, and discovering more about Jesus … Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God”. Matthew 22:37, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” It is with this focus on communion that we spend time getting to know God, realizing that He loves us, and spend time worshipping Him.

Community… Loving each other and supporting one another, learning how to be the “bride” and the “body” of Christ – His way. In community we can demonstrate love and sacrifice for one another as in John 13:35 “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." 1John 3:16, “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.”

Mission… Serve Jesus through mission, incarnational action… Zephaniah 3:9 “Then will I purify the lips of the peoples, that all of them may call on the name of the LORD and serve him shoulder to shoulder.” We biblically sacrifice for others, blessing, praying for them, and meeting relational and practical needs. Surely we will encourage meeting the needs of our close friends but we will also go beyond this to our friends’ friends. We will be engaged in practical ministries that connect us with people in our immediate community, our surrounding cities and our world. James 2:14-18, “What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?7In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.”
